Marianne Spampinato

Marianne Spampinato earned a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Pittsburgh and Master’s Degree in Leadership and Liberal Studies from Duquesne University. She was communications director for her local American Red Cross blood services region for nearly 34 years.  She is a freelance correspondent for Our Town weekly and The Daily American. 

She resides in suburban Johnstown, Pennsylvania, with her rescue dog, Galla, and her mom, Betty, who had long said that Marianne “had a book inside her.” She enjoys old movies, music, writing, reading, painting and Pittsburgh sports teams.

Listen to Your Mother” is her first book.  It provides recollections of a Baby Boomer with a Wonderfully Wise Mother.

Betsy the Rescue Dog is children’s book inspired by the author’s own rescue dog.  It includes a parental discussion guide written by a professional counselor and information about animal abuse and rescue organizations.

Betsy the Border Collie enjoys life on a farm with Mr. Fred and Mrs. Sue. Then a tragic accident changes their and Betsy’s lives forever. Betsy’s life is in danger. Who will help her and keep her safe?
