Corey McCullough has worked as a ghostwriter, copy editor, proofreader, and archaeological field technician. His most recent novel, “Rust on the Allegheny,” takes place in a fictionalized version of the oil region of western Pennsylvania. He lives in western Pennsylvania with his wife Vanessa and their three children. His favorite pastimes are reading, writing, spending time with his best friend (Vanessa), and, most of all, being a dad.
“Rust on the Allegheny” is a historical fiction novel told through the shifting perspectives of multiple generations of the MacCulloch family, a bloodline said to be cursed by perennial misfortune. It is the story of one family’s messy relationship with their hometown of Latonia City, Pennsylvania — where moldering Victorian manors and empty art deco theaters tell of the rich heritage and industrial downturn of America’s Rust Belt, with glimpses of hope for the future.
